Hermosa LGU inks pact with NGCP for drug reformists’ livelihood project

HERMOSA, BATAAN – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the local government of Hermosa led by Mayor Jopet Inton on Monday inked a memorandum of agreement with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).Mayor Inton, in an interview with this reporter, said the MOA is about the NGCP’s “Bukas na Pintuan tungo sa Pagbabago” project, a livelihood support to drug reformists as their social contribution to the government to uplift and provide opportunities to all those who have lost their way due to drug addiction.NGCP reported that Hermosa is the 4th municipality in the province that NGCP has extended the same project.The municipalities of Orion, Dinalupihan and Balanga City were the first beneficiaries since 2017, based on the declaration of Bataan as the first drug-free province in the country.The project has 3 objectives namely: 1) as a support to drug reformists in bahay pagbabago centers thru skills training; 2). to aid in employment by providing more skilled workers and; 3). to forge relationship with the local government units and communities hosting their transmission lines.A P2.7 million check was formally received by Mayor Inton from NGCP for the Hermosa LGU for the welding training project of 200 reformists who will undergo 12 months of training under the supervision of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).Mayor Inton thanked the NGCP for this project saying he believes that this will be a big help to all Hermosa reformists who will be armed with skills for livelihood after their rehabilitation.Bataan Police Director, Senior Supt. Marcelo Dayag said that this project of NGCP has enhanced the lives of the reformists and helped in the decrease of crime incidence in the province resulting to Bataan being awarded for the biggest percentage in crime solution in Central Luzon.
