HERMOSA, Bataan – First Congressional District of Bataan Representative Geraldine B. Roman and Hermosa Municipal Mayor Jopet R. Inton on Friday led the blessing and opening of the newly constructed P15M footbridge along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA Road) in Barangay Balsik here.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineering Office, District Engr. Erlindo Flores Jr. said the funds for the construction of the pedestrian overpass came from their agency’s Motor Vehicle Users Charge Road Board.

The project is in front of Balsik National High School (Balsik NHS) where hundreds of students here cross the said highway everyday.

Roman said her mother, former Congresswoman Herminia B. Roman, was the original proponent of the project upon the request of the parents and teachers association of the school which later completely constructed under her 1st term. She also proposed to install CCTV cameras within the premises of the bridge.

Roman also urged the students and residents here to use the bridge properly for their own safety.

Inton and Roman were also joined by Barangay (village) Balsik officials, school and PTA officials, and Balsik NHS students.

Mayor Inton in his speech done in pure Filipino citing “Linggo ng Wika” (national language week), thanked Cong. Roman and Bataan Governor Abet S. Garcia for their full support in all of his projects for the municipality’s continuous progress.
