By Mhike R. Cigaral

HERMOSA, Bataan – Municipal Mayor Jopet Inton on Saturday and Sunday graced the 22nd year anniversary celebration of the Kababaihan ng Bataan Tungo sa Kaunlaran (KABAKA) held at the Barangay Covered Court of Palihan here.

Mayor Inton was joined by his “1Bataan Lipad Hermosa Team” namely Eigie Malana who is running for vice mayor along with his present and candidates for councilors: Jenna Basi, Pike Datu, Lou Narciso, Luz Samaniego, Patrick Rellosa, Floyd Tungol, and incumbent vice mayor Cris Vitug (also running for councilor).

Orani Vice Mayor Dr. Bong Galicia and Atty. Jomar Gaza, both running for provincial board members under Governor Abet Garcia’s 1Bataan team were also present. Manay Gina De Venecia, who is running for Inang Mahal Party List, was the event’s special guest.

During his brief message, Inton thanked Bataan 1st District Congresswoman Geraldine B. Roman for helping the LGU-Hermosa in all its major programs and projects specially the flood-control infrastructure project.

“Nagpapasalamat din po ako sa malaking naitulong sa atin ni Congresswoman Geraldine Roman na maiayos at pumabor sa mga magsasaka ang land dispute issue sa Barangay Sumalo,” the first-termer mayor pointed out.

Mayor Jopet later entertained the audience, the KABAKA members and officers of Hermosa, with a song called “Mr. Suave”, originally sung by pop-rock group Parokya ni Edgar. Nine members of KABAKA joined the mayor on stage and served as his dance group.

KABAKA was founded by former Bataan 1st District Congresswoman Herminia B. Roman way back in 1997 during the time of the late Congressman Antonino “Tony” Roman.

It is a women’s organization that emphasizes self-reliance by the way of the “teach the man how to fish” approach giving its members opportunities to rise above their present conditions.
